Our Story
We created and engineered MyMasKit because I didn’t have a place for proper mask care. I needed a place to dry and house my mask after daily washing! I took this issue to my fiancée, Henry, an Engineer, who listened to every detail. He created a design using 3D CAD that made sense; an efficient station to wash and quickly dry my mask every day.
Our masks sit over the most important and intimate part of us: our nose and mouth and it is important to keep them clean as well as smelling fresh. MyMasKit is also beautiful to look at. Breathing through a nicely formed, clean mask helps me get through my day. We are all getting used to wearing a mask daily. We can improve our wear time by keeping our mask clean as we continue to protect ourselves and others.

About The Product
MYMASKIT is comprised of:
- One-of-a-kind urban chic fabrics made into masks by a local cottage seamstress
- Cottage industry designed and made drying cage that quickly dries and forms your mask and also allows easy access to the mask wash
- The plastics (PLA) from which MyMasKits are made come from recycled plants and compost (see figure below) and are printed on our home 3D printer

- Foodie: Patterns of food, utensils, lettering of vegetables and fruit

Bioplastic
PLA, short for Polylactic acid. Unlike petrochemical-based plastics, PLA is considered to be biodegradable and eco-friendly.

From the Engineer...
Hi there,
I am blessed with a very creative fiancée who often feeds my passion for Engineering.
On one particular occasion, she mentioned the need for us not only to wear masks but also to wash them daily. The hassle was finding all the things required for proper mask care, so she visually sketched a solution integrating a drying cage and washing solution all in one place.
I’d been wanting to get into 3D printing and this seemed the perfect project on which to enter the “makerverse” and design and manufacture it ourselves. Since ideas are like a light bulb, I used that symbolism in the drying cage shape and made a little base that supports the cage and holds a bottle of mask wash too.
The unsuspected upside is that it taught us new things we like about each other in the setting of a genuinely enjoyable team project!
