I am very attracted to aloe vera (also known as The Medicine Plant) it’s gooey, transparent gel brings instant relief of pain from sunburn, stove top burns, wounds, and bee stings. From my own experience from a large laceration, aloe vera helps seal cuts better than any over the counter creams. Break a leaf off the fleshy stem and the plant quickly seals in its juices. I am fascinated with its ability to seal itself to retain the powerful gel it possesses. My father too cared deeply for The Medicine plant and grew thousands of them on his farm in Fillmore. His dream was to market aloe vera to the masses. That never happened but he left me with his passion to promote aloe vera and all of its many healing benefits. When I am in my own mini aloe farm I feel closest to my father. He taught me so much about respecting the land and the land would take care of us. I use aloe vera daily in a green smoothie, along with spinach, parsley, fresh oranges, and dates. It has anti-aging qualities along with lots of vitamin C.

I am very much inspired by my father who no longer walks this earth, but that I am certain is very nearby. He is ever present in my mind, and in the plants especially, aloe vera. The principals he lived by and his undying gratitude to God for everything. Dad shed tears of thanksgiving almost every time he prayed, asking first Gods grace for orphans like him and widows. His imprint is branded in my mind and reminds me of how grateful I am for life, its beauty, nature, perfection, family, loved ones, and most of all love.
