Essential Oil and Flower Foot Bath

Farming and being out in nature daily is a rewarding part of my life.  I have had the privilege of raising 3 fine children and also to be a part of a successful family business for 40 years. I now spend my time in my urban garden, teaching, hiking and sharing my herbs and mushrooms every Saturday at the Pasadena farmers market. Hands and feet can take a toll with all the outdoor activities and I do love high heels and painted nails. I give myself a hand and foot treatment of essential oils to bring them back to pretty.

I settle in at this time for an aromatic foot soak filled with my favorite things. I’ve cut herbs and flowers from my urban garden and dehydrated them. They reappear in my foot soak and rehydrate beautifully and most fragrant. They make me happy. My foot soak may have horsetail, geranium, squash blossoms or roses, all enhancing the aromas and medicinal healing powers of lavender, chamomile and tea tree essential oils. Once I start my bubbles it’s game over. I am in for an awesome treat. It cost next to nothing creating your own foot bath. Place 3 drops each of essential oils that reduce swelling and achy feet as well as nourish the skin and soften rough patches. It will put you right to sleep too.

My Foot Soak Recipe:

2 cups Epsom Salts
3 drops Myrrh
3 drops lavender
3 drops chamomile
3 drops rosemary

Blend all ingredients with a wooden spoon. Make a double batch and fill a pretty container. It stores well.

Use dry herbs of lavender, mint, and sage (optional). Drying herbs is as easy as harvesting from your own garden, rinsing and setting them out to dry. You can also hang them till dry. Fresh herbs and flowers dry quickly.  Also, stop by your local Farmers Market and buy bunches of aromatic branches!
