I am so excited to present my green drink recipes. Green drinks have been a part of my life for at least 12 years. Green drinks are loaded with vitamin C and E as well as rich in anti-oxidants, phytonutrients and feel good minerals. They also aid in healthy glowing skin. My son, growing up, called it his “Happy Drink”. Certainly, he was on to something!
As you become familiar with the wonderful flavors and looking forward to your personal favorites, you will soon be creating your own amazing drinks. These recipes will get you started on your green journey. Enjoy each yummy gulp as much as I have.
Add date syrup, honey or agave nectar to add sweetness. These drinks can be prepped the night before. Place the orange/apple and water first and blend, then add the remaining contents and blend until smooth. Green drinks freeze well too. To save time blend two at a time.
Below are a few of my favorites!
Green Drink No. 1
1 large or 2 small orange
1 fresh date (pitted)
2 handfuls of spinach (no need to measure)
1/2c mint
1/2 c fresh parsley
1 c water
1 c ice cubes
Blend all ingredients till smooth. Add more water to desired smoothness.
Green Drink No. 2
1 large or 2 small Orange (peeled)
2 fresh dates (pitted)
2 c mixed greens (spinach, collard, kale, beet tops)
1/2 c mint (optional)
1 c frozen fruit (peaches, strawberries, blueberries, banana)
1 c water
1 c ice cubes
Green Drink No. 3
1 large or 2 small Orange (substitute apple)
2 fresh dates (pitted)
1 cucumber or 2 small
1 celery stalk
1/2 c mint
1/2 c cilantro
1/2 c kale
2 handfuls spinach (no need to measure)
1 c water
1 c ice cubes
Dark leafy greens like kale are some of the most nutrient-rich vegetables on Earth. Besides vitamins and cancer-fighting phytonutrients, kale as well as spinach, provide lutein and zeaxanthin for eye health, reducing the risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and reduce colon cancer risk. Parsley is rich in vitamin C. The spinach, parsley and mint greens mellow the intensity of the kale flavor, as do the fruits. Cheers!
