The Many Uses of Lavender

Did you know that lavender is a savory herb and can be used like oregano, rosemary, thyme or sage? Its uses are endless for cooking savory dishes, sprinkled on potatoes or added to a roast for slow cooking.

Lavender is also used for baking savory bread and cookies. The flavor of lavender is lending itself to fancy cocktails, simple syrup, infused sugar and salt. You can find bundles of lavender at your local So Cal farmers market.

Lavender is so aromatic that if you choose not to do any of the above-mentioned uses, you can simply hang it in your closet to dry and fold it into your favorite hanky or scarf and enjoy the fresh fragrance. It is also a natural repellent for pesky moths.

Other uses for this savory herb are her essential oils, which can calm and soothe and aide in your falling asleep quickly. Use lavender essential oil topically or diffuse to calm anxious feelings and aide in sleep. For topical use, roll on the inside of the arms, behind ears or neck. For diffusing, use 2-3 drops in 1/4 cup water.

Enjoy!
