Special occasion bouquets are as traditional as weddings themselves. They are used to distinguish special guests of honor, bridesmaids, family, and mothers. In this case, these wedding bouquets were for three sisters of the groom. I personally created and designed these for my son, Austin’s, wedding. I included succulents (3) on each bouquet, pomegranates with their stems, extra twigs, twine, burlap
There are challenges however in constructing with certain plants. Succulents can be very top heavy without the support of a stem. After some trial and error, I came up with three beautiful bouquets that photographed well and withstood the high temperatures of the day. They can also be dried and used as wall swag.

Next, I took the wide stem of artificial flowers used for a past occasion 12” long and used them as handles for each bouquet. I wrapped them with burlap and glued to secure (set aside). It’s important to fasten the plants tightly with twine and secure when ready to attach yet again.
To construct the bouquets, I first had to fasten the succulents with medium gauge wire. I gently punctured the plant and brought the wire down to give them a makeshift stem. I did this three times. I then took the pomegranates with their branches and inserted them in between the plants and fastened again with wire to reinforce them.
Finally, I wrapped and attached the plants to the burlap wrapped handle (I used glue then wrapped burlap in place). Then I followed up with a tie of narrow burlap for a short bow. In order for the bouquet to look complete, I took sphagnum moss and used hot glue to attach to give it a finished look.
This project requires patience because of the nature of the natural materials.

The bouquets came out so beautiful! You are so talented Lily. ?
Thank you sweetie! Hope all is well.
