Party and Gifts and Flowers Oh My: Urban Baby Shower

Mint, edible flowers, open face wondrous sandwiches, tablescapes of banana leaves and poppies all under one beautiful tent celebrating a new baby—another new addition to our family!   Congratulations (to my daughter) Kristin and welcome Baby Christian Oak Cooper! Even the name Oak evokes incredible meaning; first exemplifying nature, strength, and his family heritage from both sides of the continent.

This farm to table themed party had hints of the movie “The Wizard of Oz,” chalkboards of art with Kristin’s favorite quotes were standing throughout the garden, and flowers in yellow and orange flooded the outdoor scape. I used emerald green table clothes and farm style wood chairs to complete the look. I used an all wood backdrop adorned with lace and flowers for the many photos taken with family and friends to document this most beautiful event.

A tablescape of farm to table delights filled my kitchen dining room on a table lined with banana leaves. Grains (quinoa) with edible flowers, a huge vegetable platter with local veggies, pesto mayo for sandwiches on croissants delighted as well. The open face sandwiches were a hit! They included infused strawberry cream cheese with fresh strawberries and mint, egg salad with fresh dill, smoked salmon with dill cream cheese and cucumbers. Kale salad with nuts, dry cranberries, citrus and feta cheese were also served.

The desserts included cupcakes with edible flowers and crystallized sugar beads, along with a paleta bar who served up delicious fruit pops. The beverages were a fresh Jamaica tea (hibiscus) infused with fresh lavender, oranges and simple syrup and sangria with flower petals and fresh mint. For those who just wanted water, I served up a refreshing fruit and herb infusion.

It was an awesome event! It was a very hot day and I never heard mention of it once. Our guests stayed and enjoyed the entire day with us.
