Summer is a time for cleaning, home repairs, and remodeling. That said, there can be lots of dust and grime around as is my current situation. I’ve prepared four of my favorite cleaning oils, along with natural-cleaning agents used long before our synthetic ones. Vinegar is tried and true for a very long time as is plant-based witch hazel, the astringent, and Castile soap. This combination not only works supremely, it also smells amazing! Anyone walking into my living space knows when I’m cleaning.
These cleaning products can be used for counters, cabinets, sinks, toilet bowl and even some furniture. I also use them for cleaning floors.
The dry horsetail is from my urban garden and long ago it was bundled as you see in the photo and used as a scouring pad! Genius! I use two on hard to get to areas.
I also love to recycle so I save all of my old dish towels and reuse them—no sense in wasting paper towels as we clean often. I bundle old towels and tie them with string and store.
Essential oils are wonderful for cleaning! There are many oils used for cleaning, but my favorite are Doterra’s Purify, Lemon, Rosemary, and Wild Orange. I use as little 5 drops each or up to 10 if you are filling a bucket to wash floors. Pure and simple with no added chemical agents.

5 to 10 drops Rosemary
5 to 10 drops Wild orange
